This route was designed specifically for school groups — it is short, dynamic and full of “effects” that capture the attention of children and teenagers. We start in the heart of the city, on the Main Market Square, where I introduce students to the history of Krakow in a natural and accessible way — from the Cloth Hall and its trading past, through legends connected to the square, to the famous bugle call from the St. Mary’s Church tower. The route combines storytelling with views and tasks, so students not only listen but also observe and actively take part in the tour.
Example 2-hour itinerary: meeting at an agreed point on the Main Market Square — short introduction and group rules — walk to the Cloth Hall with a discussion of the site’s history and, if planned, an entrance to the Sukiennice Museum or another short exhibition — story about St. Mary’s Church, the bugle call and the most interesting anecdotes — visit to the Rynek Underground (if reserved) or an indoor museum alternative — summary and questions, distribution of a small field task or a quiz to reinforce information. I lead the whole tour in an engaging way, with elements of humor, questions for the group and short team activities.
The route is flexible — depending on the class age, pace and interest I can shorten some stories and spend more time inside a chosen museum, or break activities into short stages so children don’t lose focus. I also provide wireless headset sets that improve audibility in crowded places.
Important: museum visits are treated as optional or additional — they can be matched to the program and budget of the trip. When booking we agree together which entrances are included in the plan and whether you want a curator-led tour inside any exhibition.
The current price list is available on ZwiedzanieKrakowa.com. Below I list the most frequently chosen option for school groups and practical cost information:
- For small groups (1–35 people) the standard price for a guided tour in Polish: 2 hours — regular price 350 PLN. There is a seasonal promotion in which the 2-hour walk costs 300 PLN (promotion applies from October 1, 2025 to March 1, 2026).
- For larger groups (36+ people) the price is given per person: 2 hours — regular price 14 PLN/person, promotion 12 PLN/person (in the period mentioned above).
- Headset/audio-guide sets are available for an additional 8 PLN/person — recommended for larger groups or noisy times.
- Museum entrances (e.g., Rynek Underground, the Sukiennice Museum or another paid exhibition) typically require separate tickets — their cost is not always included in the guiding fee. When booking I help plan and estimate the total cost including museum tickets.
When booking school groups we also set the exact program, list which stops will include entrances, and any school discounts offered by some museums. I can help optimize the trip budget on request.
A few facts to know about the guide leading this route:
- Licensed Krakow guide since 2012 with many years of experience leading school groups, families and foreign guests.
- Hundreds of conducted tours and extensive experience working with children — I tell stories in an engaging way, with anecdotes and questions that keep younger groups focused.
- Permissions to guide in selected museums, including the Rynek Underground, Wawel Hill and the Schindler’s Factory, which simplifies logistics and group reservations.
- Possibility to rent headset sets and adapt the format of activities to participants’ ages — from simple stories and field games for the youngest to more substantial narratives for high school students.
Because of this, a 2-hour tour is not a dry lecture but an interactive mini-adventure that leaves students with concrete knowledge and memories.
- Meeting point: I usually arrange a clear meeting point on the Main Market Square (for example at the Cloth Hall or at an agreed bench) — please specify the exact place when booking to avoid delays.
- Arrival time: please arrive 10–15 minutes earlier — this allows time for bathroom breaks, distributing wristbands or a short safety briefing.
- Chaperones: recommended chaperone-to-student ratio is at least 1:10 for younger classes and 1:15 for older ones — this helps keep order and speeds up movement through crowded parts of the Square.
- Clothing and footwear: the route is on foot; comfortable shoes and layered clothing are advisable. In case of rain some parts of the tour can be moved indoors to museums or covered spots.
- Food and breaks: the standard 2-hour program does not include a long eating break, but short snack stops are possible. If you want a longer break, please discuss it at booking.
- Documents and payments: the guiding fee is usually paid by bank transfer or cash on the day — we agree this individually at booking. Museum tickets are purchased according to the agreed procedure — group entries usually require advance reservation and a confirmed participant list.
It’s worth deciding in advance which museum entrances you want to include in the program. The most frequently chosen options around the Market Square are the Rynek Underground and the Sukiennice exhibitions. A few practical notes:
- The Rynek Underground is a great place for a ‘‘dry’’ and evocative introduction to the city’s history — underground visits usually take a fixed amount of time and require advance reservation for school groups.
- Some museums offer special group tickets and educational programs for schools — I can help with contacts and bookings to tailor activities to the students’ age.
- Remember that museum tickets are often an additional cost on top of the guiding fee. When booking I will provide estimated durations for entrances and advise which exhibitions best fit a 2-hour route.
- I have permissions to guide in several museums, which helps with group-entry formalities and is useful when organizing visits during the busiest hours.
Weather in Krakow can change, so it’s always good to have an alternative:
- Instead of a longer outdoor walk we focus on exhibitions and interiors — Rynek Underground, the Sukiennice Museum or a short visit to a church with interesting stories and interiors.
- We shorten outdoor stretches and take more frequent covered breaks — this works well with younger children.
- If paid-exhibition visits were planned, having them reserved ensures the group spends quality time indoors without the need to improvise.
How do I book a trip? - The easiest way is via the booking form on ZwiedzanieKrakowa.com or by contacting me directly by email — when booking please provide the date, time, number of participants and information about any museum entrances.
Does the guide take responsibility for museum tickets? - I help with reservation and organization of group tickets, but the museum tickets themselves are usually purchased by the booker or paid according to the arrangements made during booking.
How much space is needed to gather the group? - The Main Market Square is large, but to avoid confusion we choose a clear, recognizable meeting point and I ask the group to wait there 10–15 minutes before the start.
Are educational materials available for pupils? - Yes, I prepare short field tasks and a simple quiz that integrate the knowledge and help reinforce the most important information after the tour.
What if classes are large and the weather is bad? - I suggest splitting into smaller subgroups with a synchronized program and using museums as the main part of the activities.
- By booking in advance you secure your preferred date and have a better chance to arrange museum entries.
- For larger groups consider renting headset sets — this improves listening comfort and order when moving through crowded parts of the Square.
- For younger groups I recommend short tasks and elements of a field game — children remember facts better when they discover something themselves.
- If you want to extend the program I can propose a 3- or 4-hour option or add other local points such as Wawel or Kazimierz, depending on time and budget.
I warmly invite you to plan the trip together. I’m happy to advise, tailor the route to the students’ age and make sure the 2 hours on the Main Market Square are not only full of facts but also a lot of fun.
