Wawel and the Royal Route

Private Tour Guide in Krakow

Wawel and the Royal Route
Private Tour Guide in Krakow - Margaret Kasprowicz

MargaretKasprowicz

Until 1734, the Royal Route was used for ceremonial entrances of monarchs, rulers, and funeral processions.

It was always a special event for the city, whose residents meticulously prepared: decorating streets, erecting triumphal arches of flowers, displaying rich carpets in the windows of their homes... Often, even for the arrival of an important person, the city was tidied up, buildings were renovated, trees were planted.

The most important monuments of old Krakow stand along the Royal Route:

  • Barbican - part of Krakow's city fortifications, currently a branch of the Historical Museum of Krakow.
  • Florianska Street - which is entered through the Florian Gate
  • Main Market Square with the Cloth Hall - the central square of the city, where the king received homage from residents after coronation
  • St. Mary's Basilica - in the altar of which you will see Veit Stoss's masterpiece, a carved pentaptych depicting the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary
  • Grodzka Street - along which stands the Romanesque St. Andrew's Church, among others
  • Kanonicza Street - one of Krakow's most charming streets, where the canons of Wawel Cathedral lived
  • Royal Castle on Wawel Hill with the Cathedral - this is where almost all Polish kings lived.

Entrance tickets for an additional fee:

  • St. Mary's Basilica: 8 PLN reduced, 15 PLN regular
  • Wawel Cathedral: 15 PLN reduced, 22 PLN regular

Licensed Krakow Tour Guide

I was born in Krakow, and exploring the history and secrets of Krakow is my passion, and the opportunity to reveal them to others brings me immense joy! I travel a lot myself and love sightseeing and discovering new places. That's why I know that a good guide is one who approaches their work with passion, likes people, and can teach children something new in a simple way, while surprising adults with a funny anecdote.
Tours of the Royal Route, Wawel Castle, or Kazimierz can be fascinating!
In 2012, I obtained my license as a Krakow city guide. I have already guided several thousand tourists.

I had the pleasure of spending 3 hours with Mrs. Małgosi a few days ago and during this time I got to know some very interesting stories about Krakow's monuments. Mrs. Małgosia speaks with great enthusiasm, you can feel that Krakow is her passion. She is able to attract the attention of the youngest, to the extent that all the stories are still being passed on by the child. I definitely recommend this guide!

We had a city tour with a group of 20 people. The 4-hour walk passed like three blinks of an eye. Małgorzata's fantastic narrative made us forget about the passage of time. Immense knowledge. Effortless storytelling. Humor and that 'something' make this Guide one of the best in the industry we've ever encountered. I highly recommend Margaret. It's absolutely worth meeting her and absorbing at least a bit of her knowledge.

The best guide I've ever walked with around Krakow, vast knowledge conveyed in a very engaging, interesting way. Plus lots of anecdotes and fun facts. Highly recommended 😊

I met Margaret during a class trip to Krakow (3rd year of middle school). She is a wonderful person, an amazing guide. She bases her stories not on history, dates (though these appear too, of course), but above all on interesting facts and little-known details. Vast knowledge, wonderful approach to young people who, tired from the June heat, were not always one hundred percent engaged in listening. Walking the streets of Krakow in Margaret's company is something truly exceptional. Thank you!!!!

Why people recommend me

I tell stories in an engaging way with lots of anecdotes, humor, interesting facts, and questions! Teachers are often surprised that their students participate so actively in the tour!
I have access to audio guide headset systems, which enable comfortable sightseeing in large groups, even during the most crowded times.
I have already guided over 1000 tours, each with 1 to 80 people, from elementary school children to seniors from the USA and VIPs from the most important global institutions.
I have had a state license as a Krakow guide since 2012, as well as licenses for museums: Wawel Hill, Market Square Underground, Schindler's Factory, and the Eagle Pharmacy, etc.
