Krakow is a city full of history, legends and places that come alive when someone tells their stories in an engaging and passionate way. For school classes the best choice is a licensed guide — this person knows not only dates and facts but can present them in a way tailored to the students' age. That turns a school outing into not just an educational task but a memorable adventure.
As a guide with local credentials (licensed since 2012) I have led over 1,000 tours and escorted tens of thousands of visitors. I have experience with classes from primary school to high school: I know how to keep a group’s attention, propose activities and manage the walking pace so children and teenagers return to the coach smiling and full of interesting facts.
With a guide you also get practical benefits — better time management, faster movement between points, help with museum reservations and logistical tips about stops and group safety. This is especially important when visiting places such as Wawel or museums where group limits and entry rules apply.
Wawel and the Royal Route are a classic school itinerary in Krakow — the route links the city’s most important monuments and gives a great overview of Polish history. The walk usually starts at the Barbican or St. Florian’s Gate and leads through the Main Market Square to Wawel.
On the route I talk about: - St. Florian’s Gate and Krakow’s medieval fortifications - The Cloth Hall (Sukiennice) and legends connected to the Market Square - St. Mary’s Basilica and the altarpiece by Wit Stwosz - the former route of royal coronations and ceremonial entries to Wawel - Wawel Cathedral, royal tombs and coats of arms - the most memorable anecdotes and legends that appeal to both younger and older students.
Depending on the group’s age and available time we can enter selected Wawel sites (the Cathedral, the crypt, the royal chambers) or limit ourselves to an outside walk with stories and explanations. For younger classes I offer a route with elements of a field game and tasks so children actively participate in the visit.
For school groups I offer programs adjusted to the students’ age and educational goals. We can run: - the classic Wawel and Royal Route - a shortened version for shorter stays - a route with legends and riddles for children - a combined tour with a museum visit (for example the Main Market Underground or Oskar Schindler’s Factory)
From experience I know flexible plans work best: we set the key points in advance, and on the day I adapt the pace to the weather and the group’s mood. For large groups headphone sets (audio guides) are available so students can hear the guide even in noisy places.
I hold museum licenses, including permissions to guide on Wawel Hill, in the Main Market Underground, at Oskar Schindler’s Factory and other sites — this makes reservations and group entries easier.
To give a clear picture of costs, below are the current options — remember some dates may include seasonal promotions. The current promotion runs from October 1, 2025 to March 1, 2026.
Promotional prices (1.10.2025 - 1.03.2026) - Small groups (1-35 people): 2 hours - 300 PLN, 3 hours - 400 PLN, 4 hours - 500 PLN. - Large groups (36+ people): 2 hours - 12 PLN/person, 3 hours - 15 PLN/person, 4 hours - 18 PLN/person. - Headphone set (audio-guide): 8 PLN/person.
Standard prices outside the promotion - Small groups (1-35 people): 2 hours - 350 PLN, 3 hours - 450 PLN, 4 hours - 550 PLN. - Large groups (36+ people): 2 hours - 14 PLN/person, 3 hours - 17 PLN/person, 4 hours - 20 PLN/person.
If you plan the visit in English, prices are higher — when booking I will give the exact cost depending on route length and number of participants. For large groups I usually suggest renting headphone sets or dividing into smaller groups with an additional guide.
The price list includes the guiding service. It does not include admission fees to museums or charges for some sites — these tickets are booked separately and I will advise when it is worthwhile to buy tickets in advance.
1. Write briefly with the date, number of people and the students’ ages — this helps me quickly tailor the program. 2. We agree on the route and tour length — Wawel and the Royal Route is the standard, but we can add a short museum visit. 3. Museum reservations — if you plan to enter Wawel, the Main Market Underground or Oskar Schindler’s Factory, we book tickets in advance. Museums often have group limits and specific entry times. 4. Confirmation and logistical details — meeting point, day plan, need for headphone sets, coach parking location. 5. On the day — we meet at the agreed place, I lead the group, managing pace and safety. 6. Payment — usually settled after the tour in cash or by bank transfer according to prior arrangements. If a museum requires prepayment, I will notify you in advance.
It is worth booking the date well in advance, especially during tourist months and school term dates — slots for Wawel and other popular sites fill up quickly.
If you have special needs (a student with a disability, delays in coach arrival, etc.), please mention them right away — I will try to propose a solution.
During booking we also arrange practical matters: where the coach may stop, how much time for a meal break and whether you need suggestions for accommodation and parking.
I contact the trip organizer directly to confirm details, so please provide the phone number and email address of the group leader.
- Parking and access: for coaches I recommend Park & Ride locations and designated coach stops. In the center there are paid parking zones — we will discuss the best parking spots to avoid driving around.
- Museums and limits: many institutions set a maximum group size and have fixed entry times for school groups. It is worth buying tickets in advance and fixing the entry hour.
- Headphone sets: very helpful in crowded places — the cost is usually billed separately (for example 8 PLN/person).
- Safety: before the visit remind students about meeting rules and how to contact chaperones. I suggest dividing into smaller subgroups with assigned chaperones, exchanging phone numbers and agreeing on a meeting point.
- Weather and clothing: Krakow can surprise with rain or cool weather even in summer. Good shoes and rain jackets are essential.
- Meals and breaks: plan a short break and a snack spot — sightseeing on an empty stomach is less effective.
- Discount documents: if students have school IDs, keep them handy — some places offer reduced admission with student cards.
Q: When should we book the trip and museum tickets? - As early as possible. For the most popular dates and entry times to Wawel tickets are typically reserved weeks or even months in advance.
Q: Do you handle buying museum tickets? - Yes, I help organize and reserve group tickets. I also advise when it is worth prepaying tickets.
Q: What if bad weather disrupts plans? - I have flexible routes and rainy-day alternatives, for example more indoor museum time or shorter stops with engaging stories.
Q: How large can a group be for one guide? - I work comfortably with groups of about 30–35 people. For larger groups I recommend headphone sets or an extra guide.
Q: Do you prepare themed programs? - Yes. For schools I offer history-focused programs, Krakow legends, as well as themed lessons about art or daily life in the medieval city.
- Confirm the date with the guide and with the museum reservation. - Check whether everyone has student ID cards (if needed for discounts). - Set the meeting place and time allowing for coach delays. - Prepare a list of contact phone numbers and divide students into smaller subgroups. - Decide whether to rent headphone sets for greater comfort. - Plan a meal break and a place where the group can leave personal items.
This simple list really helps avoid stress on the day of the trip and lets you focus on discovering the city.
If you like, I can send a ready-made printable checklist that you can distribute to chaperones.
All arrangements are discussed in advance so that on the day of the trip you can focus only on sightseeing and having fun.
I invite you to book — together we will create the perfect program for your class!
